Whether sports, culture, sights – there are possibilities for any taste. We will be glad to

help you put together an unforgettable framework programme.


Taste/Savour training

Discover your taste buds anew at a sensors training. Maria Steinbauer tastes excellent superior brandy with you and takes you along to a world of aromas and tastes.
Duration: ca. 1 hour
Place: Rassach (10 min away)

Rent a Tractor

More than 30 old-timer tractors present themselves for a culinary discovery tour through the western Styrian rolling hills. You can chug by tractor from wine tavern via the oil mill to the wine cellar.
Duration: half-day or full-day trip

Flascherlzug – “Bottle train”

You are riding on an old steam locomotive like the former quack “Höllerhansl” through the rolling hills of Stainz to Preding. Styrian music provides good entertainment, and regional delicacies will pamper you. Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
Duration: ca. 2 hours

High Rope Course

Enjoy an adventure high up in the air, and try out a high rope course. Unforgettable hours full of tests of courage and a lot of fun await you for climbing at the high rope course.

Running, Walken

Stainz offers eight sign-posted paths for walkers and runners, from 5 to 25 km. These paths are perfectly suited to do your body good and clear your head for new ideas.

Tennis

Well-prepared tennis courts can be found at the Freizeitcenter (leisure centre) Schilcherland in Stainz. Four indoor courts and four outdoor clay courts provide great conditions for a perfect tennis match.

Hiking & Mountainbiking

All in all, there are about 200 km sign-posted bike and hiking paths around Stainz. A lot of varied (theme) paths lead you through the picturesque scenery, past fertile pumpkin fields, hilly vineyards and thick woods. Numerous “Buschenschänke”/wine taverns along your path are waiting to cater you with a hearty “Brettljausn” (typical meal) and a glass of Schilcher wine.

Golf

Enjoy 18 holes at one of the most beautiful golf courses in the southwest of Styria. At the range of the golf club Schloss Frauenthal/Frauenthal Castle, only 15 minutes away from the hotel, you can play golf along the castle grounds and enjoy a wonderful view onto the Styrian rolling hills.

Curling

In Stainz, there are two lakes with a total area of 10 000 m² where you can have fun as a group of people in winter with perfect conditions to play curling.

E-Bikes

Explore the western Styrian Schilcherland and its magical rolling hills in a smooth way. Rent your E-bike from Hartje directly at the Stainzerhof for only 15€ per day.

Stainz Castle

High above the roofs of Stainz, this historical building is enthroned, surrounded by the castle’s very own vineyards and orchards. It was built in 1695 and presents itself as wonderful excursion destination with its opulent stucco work and paintings by (the master) Carlo Formentini.

Automotive Museum Stainz

With over 80 different automotive manufactures, this is the largest automotive collection in Austria. 180 old-timer rarities are only waiting to be marveled at by you.

Hunting Museum at Stainz Castle

The largest hunting museum in Austria does not only fascinate hunters. Historical arms and gadgets, great pieces of art as well as arts-and-crafts- exponates show how multi-faceted the phenomen of hunting is rooted in our culture. Knowledge about nature provides for “animal adventures” and invites you to listen, feel, and think about everything.

Agricultural Museum Stainz

The variety of the agricultural and silvicultural working and living area is presented in an informative permanent exhibition and forges a bridge from pre-industrial ages to the challenges of the 21st century by showing historical objects and using interactive media stations.
